Event Description
World Water Day celebrates the importance of freshwater in all of our lives. We at the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum are committed to telling the stories of our struggles to access safe water in history, and how we are still working to combat this issue today. With water at the heart of many present and future global concerns, our museum aims to not only share how we can learn from our experiences in the past, but to shine a light on the many water challenges we face today as well as the tools we can use to tackle them.
Like many organizations, the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on our institution. We hope you will consider supporting our non-profit museum and mission by participating in our World Water Day Virtual Race. (All proceeds will support museum programs, operations, and exhibits)
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RACE?
In a virtual race, participants sign up for a specific distance that they will run or walk. Unlike a traditional race, the distance can be completed from anywhere and at anytime within the given race window (In this case March 20 - April 25 2021). Participants time themselves, and submit their results online.
For the World Water Day Virtual Race with the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum, you can select the 1K, 5K, or 10K distance. All registrants will receive:
- A Digital Race Bib
- A World Water Day Fact Sheet
- A Digital Finisher's Certificate
- A Finisher's Medal*
*The first 200 registrants will receive a Finisher's Medal - This page will be updated if/when the Finisher's Medal is no longer available.
