What you will get? - A Finisher Medal --- Yes, that is right we'll say it for you: "Just a medal?"
Well we could say you're going to get a shirt and medal and super cool schwaaaaag, but that is not the point of this event. The point is to keep the cost low, get as many people as physically possible to participate and have enough money to donate to the COVID Relief fund for families impacted by this horrible disease. Our MOTTO is GIVE THANKS - NOT COVID!
What the COVID relief fund will provide:
- Financial assistance & PPE gear for need based families with immune-compromised individuals that are not able to return to work. Many immune-compromised individuals can not leave their homes due to the risk of being exposed to the virus, thus also requiring family members sharing the same household to stay at home. Who has to go shopping? Who has to go out and earn money? Now with the increased cost of PPE, this now puts a high financial burden on some of these at risk families. Our goal is to help off set some of the, new long term, expenses for these families and provide them with PPE they can use on a daily basis to conduct some of necessary daily activities.
- Financial assistance to special needs individuals who financially impacted by increased costs in medical care. Special needs facilities and organizations are suffering first hand as many of their events have been canceled due to the pandemic. For many of the these organizations, special events are their major source of fundraising throughout the year. Without a continuous stream of funds accompanied by donations, many of these organizations will collapse ultimately causing devastation to the individuals they are caring for.
- Financial assistance to families with pre-existing conditions that will cause kids to be at risk by returning back to school. These families are now suffering a financial burden of not being able to work full schedules due to staying at home to care for kids and home school them.
So on Thanksgiving Day morning lets all get up and put on our running clothes like we normally do, lets do it from the comfort of our own home, and lets run for the record! Our goal is to get 100,000 people participating on Thanksgiving day and to bring $100,000 to the COVID relief fund!
