Event Description

Along our captivating courses you will encounter stunning historical sites and modern street murals, Black history course signs with educational video content, and well-placed food and water stops. Our free mobile app transforms your phone into an outdoor museum guide, narrated by two-time Oscar-nominated actor and humanitarian Djimon Hounsou.

This is a cultural community event for all ages and abilities. Choose between a 16.19K run or a 6.19K run/walk-no matter your pace, unless you are on crutches, you will make it to the finish line on time!

Run Richmond 16.19 culminates in a vibrant finish festival featuring live music, drum circles, a vendor village, a Black history pop-up exhibit, and a living museum experience-where young African American children bring historical figures to life. Bring your family, friends, and kids to this one-of-a-kind celebration of Unity in Diversity, Black culture, and community.

This event is organized by the Djimon Hounsou Foundation in collaboration with the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia, and more than 30 local and regional nonprofit partners. And yes-Djimon Hounsou will be attending in person!
