Event Description

In April of 1942, after the Battle of Bataan in the Philippines, approximately 78,000 American & Filipino soldiers were forced to walk 65 miles to a prisoner of war camp, Camp O'Donnell. Estimates vary but are as high as 18,000 prisoners died along the 8 days of the forced march.

In remembrance of the WWII Bataan Death March and as a fundraiser for Honor Flight Pittsburgh, we challenge you to complete a 65 mile trek.  You may choose to walk/hike/bike/ride that is to be completed at your own pace.  While doing this challenge, reflect on the severe physical challenge that our surviving heroes completed in only 8 days.

Honor Flight Pittsburgh honors America’s Veterans by inviting them to share in a day of tribute and celebration at our nation’s memorials in Washington, DC. We honor and thank the Americans who secured our freedom by bringing them to the nation's capital to visit the memorials that commemorate their service.  This day of tribute for our war veterans is of no cost to our heroes and is paid entirely though local fundraisers and generous sponsors.
