Event Description

Ft Ebey and The Kettles trail system on Whidbey Island offers over 30 miles of single and double track trails with short steep climbs and lots of technical trails.  Mussels in the Kettles lays out routes on these trails so you can come to test your skills.  WIBC marks every turn with flagging and arrows so you go in the preferred direction.  Mussels in the Kettles is the primary funding for trail work and bicycle advocacy performed by Whidbey Island Bicycle Club. Mussels in the Kettles

The course will be up and available to ride between the hours of 9:30 am and 2 pm on March 8th, 2025

Courses are marked with Green, Blue, and White flagging, three ribbons per intersection or turn.  We also use direction arrows along the course to keep the flow in the right direction on the single track.

Check-in this year, when you arrive at Coupeville Hight School, you will have a bib assigned to you. Parking is at the Coupeville High School,  Once you are ready to ride, you will leave Coupeville going west on SW Terry Rd joining up with a bike trail on the north side of the road.  The gravel trail will go west then north to the Kettles paved trail you will follow that west for 2 miles until you reach the Kettles and Ft Ebey trail network.

Mussels in the Kettles will provide complementary coffee at the starting line.  Halfway through the ride, we will have bottles of water and trail bars.

2025 will have no card stations no prizes this year, but will have homemade cookies, at the fire ring on the bluff.

A bike corral will be in downtown Coupeville for you to enjoy Mussel Festival
