Event Description

Cowan Lake is a beautiful park outside of Wilmington, Ohio. We are excited to return to Cowan Lake with a new bike and run course. We will swim in Cowan Lake, which is a very calm lake with very light boat traffic. We will swim in a rectangle close to the beach with a focus on keeping racers safe. The water is shallower near the shore and you can touch there, but on the backside of the course, you will not be able to touch bottom. Beginner triathletes will be able to touch bottom the entire swim course. The transition area will be in the lower parking lots closest to the beach Athletes will be on a paved surface as they transition from segment to segment. The bike course goes a clockwise loop around Cowan Lake with 345 feet of elevation. The bike is on a paved road open to motorized traffic. The run in out and back on a closed course. It is also on a mostly flat paved path with 133 feet of elevation change. Athletes will finish in the parking lots next to the transition area and then can celebrate their accomplishment with post race food and drink.
