Event Description
FFW is made up of a 5K timed run and a 2-mile tribute walk. The event will be held at the Veterans Serving Veterans (VSV) Community Park located at 3740 41 Rd. in Cadillac, MI.
VSV is a Cadillac, Michigan nonprofit that honors and serves those who have served and protected at home and abroad. For more information about this organization and their mission visit the VSV website.
The day will include:
5K - professionally timed run
Dress in patriotic colors, wear a shirt to represent a military branch or in memory of someone you’ve lost. Consider selecting one or more names when you check in to carry with you on your run.
We will be awarding the overall top male and female (not eligible then to place in respective age group) as well as the top 3 males and females in the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
2 Mile - untimed tribute walk
Dress in patriotic colors, wear a shirt to represent a military branch or in memory of someone you’ve lost. Consider selecting one or more names when you check in to carry with you on your walk.
Funds raised will help support our outreach center: Belay My Last Barracks, transitional housing project, the Staff Sergeant Drew Kostic Veterans’ Scholarship at Northwestern Michigan College, and allow us to continue to offer free programs, resources, and support to our local area veterans.
Pricing
5K cost is $35 per person from April 21 - June 21; $40 (no shirt guaranteed) from June 22 - August 5
2 Mile walk cost is $22 per person; kids 5 and under free (no swag included)
*there is an additional online processing fee upon check-out when you register.
Become a fundraiser: Receive $20 of your registration back when you reach the goal of $100
Launch your own fundraiser and help us spread awareness about veteran suicide and our cause by sharing with your friends, family, and co-workers about why you are participating in the run or walk. The support you raise will all go back out to help and support local veterans and carry our message of awareness forward to those that may not have known otherwise. You will be given the option to fundraise during registration. Feel free to edit the page to fit your audience. Don’t forget to grab the provided link and share it out!
Race Day
There will be a community farmer's market onsite as well as local food trucks for you to purchase food from.
Onsite check-in: 8:00-9:15 am
Opening remarks at start line: 9:30-9:45 am
Race start: 5K 10:00 am; 2-mile 10:05 am
Closing Ceremony/Awards: 11:45/Noon (shortly after race end and results tallied)
