Event Description
The 1911 Initiative 5K Scholarship Run/Walk, happening on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in partnership with the Village of Matteson, is more than just a race—it’s a collective effort to uplift education by providing scholarships, mentorship, and real hands on internships to college-bound students. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or someone who enjoys a leisurely stroll, this event is open to everyone!
Join us for a vibrant morning that kicks off with an exciting race and wraps up with post-run festivities, including live music, a concert stage, a beer tent, delicious food vendors, and demonstrations from local businesses. Every participant will receive a race packet filled with a commemorative race shirt, finisher medal, and swag from our generous sponsors. To keep you feeling your best, Stretch Lab will be on-site offering free stretch demos and consultations to help you warm up or cool down.

COURSE
Description An official certified 5K street course as designed by the Village of Matteson.
PACKET PICK-UP
Packet pick-up will take place at VILLAGE OF MATTESON COMMUNITY CENTER , Monday June 16th to 20th from 10:00 am-7:00 pm. and Packet Pick-up and registration will be available on race day starting at 6:00 am

Top 3 overall male and female and top 3 male and female age groups will receive awards. Age groups include 7 & Under 8-10, 11-14, 15-17,18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84-85-89, 90+
SHIRTS
Shirt sizes are guaranteed to all participants that register early before December 8th. Free entries or discounted entries are not guaranteed a shirt unless paid for.
PARKING
Official Parking will be located around the Village Community Center.
