Event Description

Experience the beauty and challenge of Cookson Hills Wildlife Management Area (WMA). The Beaver Fire Tower Half Marathon packs a punch with 2,200' of elevation on gravel/dirt roads.  Some sections are steep and technical, meaning uneven terrain and loose rock.  This out-and-back course takes you up up up Tower Road to the highest point in the refuge, and delivers panorama views of surrounding valleys and hills.  Then you will drop off the back side of the hill to the halfway aid station. Then back up to the Tower and down toward the start/finish.  Kick off your race season with a bang at Beaver Fire Tower Half.

Our permit is for 70 participants. That is as much as the permit allows, and we must all do our part in keeping Cookson free of litter as always: Leave No Trace. If we want a shot at being allowed to hold future events in Cookson, we must protect the land and the animals who call it home.
