Sun 'n Lake Improvement District is proud to host the 5K Trunk Trot for Thanksgiving, a family-friendly, fun-filled run that brings our community together for a cause. The event will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, beginning and ending near the Sun 'n Lake Community Center. This event aims to promote healthy living while raising awareness of community wellness and fitness. The race will begin promptly at 8:00 AM, and runners of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate.
Pre-registration is encouraged to guarantee a race-day T-shirt, with a cut-off date of November 20, 2024. Shirts will be distributed until supplies last after this date.
Event Purpose:
The 5K Trunk Trot is designed to foster a spirit of community, promote health and wellness, and kick off the holiday season with a festive, outdoor event. Participants will be encouraged to celebrate their achievements, engage with neighbors, and build a tradition of active living in the Sun 'n Lake area. All proceeds from the event will be used to support future community events and wellness programs.
Day of Event Schedule:
6:30 AM: Event opens, on-site registration and packet pick-up begin at the Sun 'n Lake Community Center
7:45 AM: Pre-race warm-up/stretching session
7:55 AM: Welcome announcements and safety briefing
8:00 AM: Race begins
8:30 AM - 9:30 AM: Finish line celebrations, music, and post-race refreshments
9:30 AM: Awards ceremony for the top three finishers in each age group
10:00 AM: Event concludes

Top 3 finishers overall: Medals will be awarded
Age group awards: Individuals of all ages will be recognized, with medals given to the top three finishers in each age group.
Top 3 Males & Top 3 Females will receive awards.
Top 3 finishers in each age group will also receive awards. Age groups include:
6 & under, 7-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90+
Parking:
Parking is available at the Sun 'n Lake Community Center and nearby lots. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to ensure parking availability.
Timing and Scoring:
The race will be officially timed and scored using a disposable chip system. Participants will receive their chips at registration and are required to wear them throughout the race. Results will be posted online within 24 hours.

How long is the course?
The 5K is 3.1 miles, beginning and ending at the Sun 'n Lake Community Center.
How will I be timed?
The race will use an electronic timing system with a disposable chip attached to the back of your race bib. Each participant is required to wear the chip for official times to be recorded. There will also be a clock at the finish line to view your time.
When and where do I pick up my registration materials?
Registration pick-up will be available at Sun 'n Lake Community Center from Monday, November 14 to Thursday, November 21, 2024, during business hours. Day-of registration begins at 6:30 AM on race day.
How will I receive my results?
Official results will be posted online for top runners in each category. On-site inquiries can be addressed by race staff, and results will also be available on the event website.
Can I use my own race chip or tag?
No, you will be provided with a custom disposable chip, which must be worn for official timing and scoring.
Who gets a T-shirt?
All pre-registered runners who sign up by November 20, 2024, are guaranteed a free race T-shirt. After this date, shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until they run out. Walk-up participants may face limited sizes and availability.
What if I need help during the race?
Qualified emergency medical professionals will be available at the start and finish lines to assist participants.
Can I participate with my dog?
Yes, dogs are welcome to join the event. Please ensure your dog is on a leash and does not interfere with other participants.
Can I participate with a stroller?
Yes, strollers are allowed, but we ask that participants with strollers start towards the back of the runners to ensure safety for all.
Should I bring my own water?
While there will be water stations on the course and at the finish line, participants are encouraged to bring their own water.
Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for race registration. We appreciate your understanding and support of the event.
Will the race be held if it rains?
Yes, the race is a "rain or shine" event. Please dress appropriately for the weather, but note that umbrellas are discouraged for safety reasons.
What will be provided after the race?
An awards ceremony will take place after the race, recognizing the top 3 male and female runners and the top 3 finishers in each age group.
Can I transfer my race entry to someone else?
No, we have a strict no-transfer policy for race entries.
