Broward County Public School’s Equity, Diversity, & School-Climate 5K
Featuring the Mentoring & Prevention Programs

Saturday, October 26th
On Saturday, October 26th, under the Broward Education Foundation, the Mentoring and Prevention programs of BCPS will be teaming up with the Miami Dolphin’s Jason Jenkins Day of Service for a 5K and community service event. There are multiple reasons for hosting such an amazing event. The first is to raise awareness to the community of the Mentoring (5000 Role Models, Mentoring Tomorrow’s Leaders, Student Athlete Mentoring) and Prevention (Substance Abuse, Suicide Prevention) programs BCPS has to offer within its schools. The second is to partner with the Miami Dolphins while recognizing the late Jason Jenkins, who spent 14 years servicing the communities across South Florida. Next, will be a fundraising opportunity to support these programs within their respective schools. Last, the 5K would be a can food drive that will be donated to a local food bank in preparation for the upcoming Thanksgiving giveaways.
Raising Awareness: We aim to highlight the vital Mentoring programs—such as 5000 Role Models, Mentoring Tomorrow’s Leaders, and Student Athlete Mentoring—and the Prevention initiatives focusing on Substance Abuse and Suicide Prevention available within BCPS schools.
Honoring Jason Jenkins: This event will also celebrate the legacy of the late Jason Jenkins, who dedicated 14 years to serving the South Florida community through his work with the Miami Dolphins.
Fundraising: Proceeds from the event will directly support the continued success of these Mentoring and Prevention programs in our schools.
Community Service: In addition to the 5K, participants are encouraged to bring canned goods for a food drive. Donations will be given to a local food bank to assist with Thanksgiving preparations.
