Event Description
Ready to experience a running challenge like no other? Join the Virtual Tour de Tampa and race alongside fellow runners in a thrilling 21-day virtual journey inspired by the legendary Tour de France!
Starting on July 5th and concluding on July 27th, the Virtual Tour de Tampa combines the passion for running with the spirit of the world's most renowned cycling event. The goal is for each team member to complete a total of 21 individual runs during this period, mirroring the 21 stages of the Tour de France. Just like the Tour de France, we’ll have two designated rest days where points are not calculated but you can still log runs on those days.
The Tour de Tampa has both local and international divisions with categories for male, female, and coed teams so there will be six teams designated as Tour de Tampa champions at the end of the competition receiving the coveted yellow jerseys (shirts).
There will be individual male and female awards in the general classification and a single King/Queen of the mountain in both the local and international divisions giving you two more opportunities to win within your division.
All competitors will receive a race shirt and finishers medal and winners in the team and individual competitions will receive a yellow, green, or polka dot jersey (it’s actually a shirt) based on their win.
Gather your running buddy, form a team, and be a part of this extraordinary virtual race. The Virtual Tour de Tampa awaits, where the road is yours to conquer, and the thrill of the race knows no boundaries. Join us on this exhilarating journey and let the virtual pavement be your stage!
Basic Rules (Detailed rules will be included in pre-challenge emails)
One member of the team can load the daily mileage totals for the team but each individual chasing after the general classification or King/Queen of the Mountain must enter their own mile times and feet of climb for the designated days.
Please enter your miles, times, and climbs by 6 AM Eastern Time on the day after your run. If you enter your data late, your miles won’t be included in the daily competition but they will count towards your overall total for the yellow jersey awards.
Late entries of your mile time or elevation gain will result in you not being included in the daily points awards for those categories which means they won’t be included in the overall competition.
