We aren't giving up and neither should you! We have moved our event to a new date and time: Saturday, October 5th at 8AM.
The Alleghany Wellness Center Trifecta is Triathlon intended to encourage all ages and abilities to "try" a triathlon! We want to promote setting and achieving wellness goals and with this in mind have created this triathlon to challenge the bucket list seeker and experienced triathlete alike. Not ready to complete all three legs of the event? No worries, we have a Relay Division!
This event is the perfect weekend adventure, as well! Complete your race and then go and enjoy the beauty of small town mountain life! We are minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway, with breathtaking views you will want to slow down and take it all in. Our event is good for your health and good for your soul! Hope to see you on the starting line!
Event details and schedule
This is a local event organized by volunteers who want to encourage people in our community and local area to get healthy and complete a triathlon. This is not a sanctioned event. It will be manually timed from start to finish. There will be medals awarded to ALL FINISHERS!
Participants may check in and get their numbers and t-shirts. Participants will set up their gear in the transition area at 7:00AM-7:45AM. Swimmers will be lined up according to the fastest average swim time and will start lining up by 8:00AM.
What to Bring:
- Bike & Helmet (helmets are required by law!)
- Swim gear & a couple of towels to use to dry off as you transition to bike
- At least two pairs of socks and large ziplock bags to keep things dry
- Personal dietary needs/medications
- We recommend having layers (pullovers, jackets, pants, etc) in anticipation of cooler or rainy weather
- Running shoes
- A positive attitude and a willingness to encourage others to cross the finish line
Swim Route-300M
The swim portion of the event will take place in our indoor pool. The temperature of the pool is usually 82 degrees. Locker room and showers will be available to participants throughout the event. Swimmers will swim up and down each lane and under the lane line for a total of 6 lanes. They will then exit the pool, walk outside and head to the staging area to get ready for the bike portion.
Bike Route-20K
Riders will leave from the staging area and make a left out of the parking lot onto Collins Rd. They will then make a left onto Hwy 18 and then another left onto the Bypass. Once they reach Main St (Hwy 21) they will head north and out of town to Bledsoe Creek Rd. Make a left onto Bledsoe Creek and follow to the end of the road. There will be a rest stop there and riders will turn and head back out the way they came then will take a right on to Main St and head through town to the south end of the Bypass. Take a right on the Bypass and then a left on 18 going past Collins Rd. They will take a right on Reynolds and then a left on Collins Rd to head back to the Wellness Center, completing the ride at the staging area.
Run Route-5k
Runners will leave the staging area and take a right out of the parking lot onto Collins Rd. Head to Reynolds and take a left. They will run to the rest stop at the end of Reynolds and then back to the Wellness Center to the finish line in the parking lot.
Food and refreshments will be available to all participants.
