The Hungerford Games are a set of trail runs through the Manistee National Forest near Big Rapids, Michigan. They consist of a 15-mile, 45K, and a 50-mile races, and take place annually on the last Saturday in September. The races are a uniquely arboreal experience, with incredible foresty scenery, a wonderful variety of running surfaces, and distinctive wooden awards. Finishers receive unique wooden medals, winners receive chainsaw-carved wooden trophies, and participants who complete the 50-mile ultramarathon between sunrise and sunset earn the coveted Hungerford Hiking Stick.
