Event Description
Randonneuring—non-competitive, long-distance cycling, where you follow a pre-planned route and attempt to finish within a set time-limit—is a great way to test your endurance, navigational skills, and fortitude.
The journey toward freedom is at the heart of the story of the United States. Plymouth Rock, The Revolutionary War, The Emancipation Proclamation, Juneteenth, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 were all major milestones on that unfinished and arduous pursuit of liberty and justice for all. On June 17, 2023, - two days before "Juneteenth" - The NJ Randonneurs will honor that pursuit by visiting one of the many routes taken by enslaved Americans to achieve freedom. This flat 117km Populaire visits Underground Railroad sites in Woolwich, Marshalltown, Salem and Springtown / Othello NJ. Join us for a celebration of the historic endurance, determination, and desire for freedom that this holiday represents.
