ROAD CLOSURES
Motorists in the City of Mesa and surrounding area may experience several road closures on Saturday, February 8, as runners in the Mesa Marathon make their way through the city.
Several streets will be closed starting at 4:00 a.m. on February 8. Streets will re-open in stages with all streets re-opened by 1:30 p.m. Traffic will not be permitted to cross the race route during the event.
Motorists should plan ahead for possible delays. To avoid the race route completely, travelers are advised to skirt the perimeter by using the 202 Red Mountain Freeway (north and east borders); the 101 Price Freeway (west border); and US 60 Superstition Freeway (south border).
STARTING LINE
Don’t worry about cold temps while you’re waiting for the race to start — we’re planning to have plenty of heat to keep you warm if temperatures are cold. If you wear extra layers of toss-away clothing, our volunteers will pick them up and donate to Savers. Proceeds to benefit the Phoenix Marathon Foundation.
CLOTHING DROP OFF
AT START LINES FOR THE FULL & HALF MARATHON
Before the gun fires, both the marathon and half-marathon starting lines will have gear drops. Your expo goodie bag doubles as a gear drop bag; please stick your 4×6 adhesive bib number on this bag, and bring it with you to the starting line if you intend to drop off a bag. A volunteer will collect your bag, and we will have a truck take your belongings back to the finish area. We will have an area at the finish where you can retrieve your bag based on your bib number. Please make sure that your adhesive bib tag is attached to the OUTSIDE of your gear bag. If you do not have it attached to the outside of your gear bag, it will make it extremely difficult to get the proper bag back to you. This will enable us to return your bag to you quickly and efficiently!
Clothing bags not picked up by 2:00 PM on race day will be donated to Savers. We will take the utmost care with all items left at the gear drop areas, but please DO NOT put valuables or expensive items like cameras, car and house keys, cell phones, money, GPS devices, etc. in the gear drop bags. We are not responsible for lost items!
COURSE LIMITS
The marathon & half marathon course will be closed at 12:30PM. Runners falling behind this time will be required to move to the side of the road or sidewalk and obey standard traffic laws such as stopping at stop lights and intersections.
SPROUTS MESA MARATHON CHEER CHALLENGE
The Sprouts Mesa Marathon (formerly known as the Sprouts Mesa Phoenix Marathon) Aid Station Cheer Challenge is back! Each Aid Station host has been encouraged to create an environment that will give the runner a big boost or a moment of excitement as they pass by. We would like each runner to vote for their favorite Aid Station on our website by 2/14. Prize money will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place winners. Many of our stations are hosted by local schools, athletic clubs, and service organizations. Please help us by voting for your favorite Aid Station!
AWARDS
The marathon awards ceremonies for all three race distances will take place at Mesa Riverview at the stage area. Awards will not be mailed, so please be in attendance if you expect to win an award.
Overall and Masters awards will be based on gun time per USATF rules. Age group awards will be based on chip times.

Half Marathon – 9:00 AM
Full Marathon – 10:30 AM
