Event Description

We are excited to announce the first annual Race for Justice. This event was designed by a women-led student group. Inspired by Breonna Taylor, the movement that followed her tragic loss, and the many other injustices we’ve seen and experienced, this race is about uniting our city to move forward.  Proceeds from the event will be donated to six local nonprofits doing justice work in the city: Americana, the Bail Project, La Casita, Mattingly Edge, Queer KY, and Roots 101.

Individual team members each complete a 5 mile looped course. Together, the team completes a full 26.2 mile marathon, each mile is dedicated to one year of Breonna’s life. The course also highlights historic sites of justice (marked and unmarked) in our city. The last mile will be completed together by the team on the track of the Norton SLC where runners will pass by booths highlighting the work of our non-profit partners. The day will also include a celebration of justice with speakers, and entertainment. We want our city to run, march, walk, dance as we move Forward. Together. For Justice.
